Academy Award winning actress Mo'Nique has partnered with the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) - the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization - in a video for its Americans for Marriage Equality campaign. In the video, the comedienne and actress states, "Gay and lesbian couples believe in commitment, family and love. Join me and support marriage equality. It's the right thing to do."

"We're so grateful to Mo'Nique for lending her voice for this important effort," said HRC President Joe Solmonese. "American public opinion only moves one direction on marriage equality-and that's toward it."

About 53% of Americans support same-sex marriage, according to a number of nonpartisan, respected polls. Support has increased a whopping 20 points since 1996, according to the Pew Research Center.

Americans for Marriage Equality is a public education campaign that launched last week with Newark Mayor Corey Booker. Over the coming months, HRC will roll out targeted videos playing off of the Americans brand, including Republicans for Marriage Equality, African-Americans for Marriage Equality, Latinos for Marriage Equality and Elected Officials for Marriage Equality.

The ads will run online with possible placement elsewhere. For the videos and more information about the campaign, visit www.hrc.org/MarriageEquality.

The Human Rights Campaign is America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against LGBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.
