Factory 449: a theatre collective, coming off the success of its award-winning 4.48 Psychosis, is excited to announce the lineup of plays for Season 2 (2010-11). Featured are World Premieres by Erik Ehn (Wolf at the Door) and Caridad Svich (Iphigenia Crash Land Falls on the Neon Shell That Was Once Her Heart). In addition, Factory 449 will produce its 2nd Annual Factory Made: a reading series and the DC Premiere of Alberto Pedro's Mar Nuestro, translated by Caridad Svich.

"For Factory 449's second season, we are tackling World Premieres by two of our most challenging and evocative contemporary playwrights," states Producing Artistic Director Rick Hammerly. "With these plays we will examine the relationship theatre has with a 21st century audience, exploring new perspectives for traditional storytelling, and investigating our culture's unceasing demand for novelty and uniqueness. Factory 449 Co-Founder John Moletress addresses the plays specifically, "In Erik Ehn's "The Saint Plays," we are presented with the question of allegorical preservation. Where does our faith come from? How has the story changed? Where do we begin to excavate the answers? In Caridad Svich's "Magnificent Waste," we find ourselves neck-deep in a superficial society, which is failing to keep up with its own demands. Svich lays bare the notions of America's excessive appetite, presenting a portrait of our own destruction."
